Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz spaghetti or ramen noodles: Choose your favorite noodles for the base.
  • 1 lb ground beef: Provides a hearty and flavorful protein.
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil: For sautéing the beef.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced: Adds a fragrant kick.
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce: The salty, umami base for the sauce (low sodium preferred).
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar: Balances the savory elements with a touch of sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup beef broth: Adds depth to the sauce.
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes: For a hint of heat (optional).
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced: Freshness and a pop of color.
  • Sesame seeds for garnish: Adds a nutty finish.

Instructions:

1️⃣ Cook the Noodles:

  • Cook 8 oz of spaghetti or ramen noodles according to package directions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Cook the Ground Beef:

  • In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add 1 lb ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.

3️⃣ Add Garlic:

  • Once the beef is browned, add 3 cloves minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

4️⃣ Make the Sauce:

  • Stir in 1/2 cup soy sauce1/4 cup brown sugar1/4 cup beef broth, and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional). Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

5️⃣ Combine with Noodles:

  • Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss them in the sauce until well coated.

6️⃣ Add Green Onions:

  • Stir in 1/2 cup sliced green onions and cook for another 1 minute.

7️⃣ Garnish and Serve:

  • Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.
